By this time of the year we are all patiently awaiting spring, especially with the weather we’ve been having lately. Although we can’t predict when the spring weather will start to stay, we can tell you that the first calendar day of spring is today March 20th. Spring is a great time to discuss new fundraising ideas; here are a few of our favorites.
Races, 5ks, or Walks
With everyone ready to get outside of the house, spring is a great time to plan an outdoor fundraiser. Many organizations plan their races and walks for the spring to jump start outdoor activities. Start planning this event in advance of the spring to ensure the event goes smoothly.
A picnic fundraiser is another great way to get participants outside into the great weather. Create raffle baskets and 50/50 drawings to increase donations. Ask local merchants and businesses to support your fundraiser by donating baskets, foods or items for the picnic. Your organization can also use this fundraiser to share information about the past and upcoming year’s accomplishments.
This is a great way to give back to the community while raising money for your organization. Gather individuals to create fundraising teams. Have the teams gather sponsorships for participating in the neighborhood cleanup. On the day of the clean-up make it fun by recognizing the teams that clean up the most trash, raise the most money, or gather the most people.
Game Night Fundraiser
Game night is a great way to bring families together and without electronics. Gather board games, family friendly casino style games, or card games and plan a night. Raise money through concessions, 50/50, gift basket raffles, and special games. Gather support from local businesses and restaurants in the form of donations.
