As we prepare to “fall back” and turn the clocks back an hour in three weeks, let’s talk about another thing you can fall back into. That thing is your social network! During the summer months planning can get hectic with vacations, picnics, reunions, and all of the other summer activities we look forward to all year. This can cause scheduling conflicts within your networking group. As things slow down and before everyone gets ready for the holiday season there is time to catch up with your colleagues.
“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go with others”- African Proverb
Not only is networking great for your career, helping others make connections helps your charitable organizations as well. In today’s business environment, there are various ways you can connect with new and old partners. Technology makes it even easier with Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook. Use these platforms to your advantage, start a conversation, plan a meet up or simply check in with those you’ve disconnected from over the summer. If networking in person is more your style, meet up for lunch, take some time to make a phone call, or send a card to let your connections know that you are thinking about them.
